Life Changes after Loss 

Explore the different changes we can experience after the loss of a loved one. Change can be difficult to accept and adjust to, especially when we are trying to learn how to process our grief. 

 

Our perception of life after loss

During this conversation, Jack and I reflected on how loss can cause us to view life differently. For many of us, it shifts us to look at life from two perspectives: ‘before’ the loss and ‘after’ the loss.

 

The many changes we experience after the loss of a loved one

When we lose a loved one, we experience the loss of what we knew our norm to be. We tend to expect to return to the norm that we once had before the passing of our loved one. Expecting life to go back to “normal” can be debilitating. It can feel as though you continue to hit a wall that simply won’t come down.

 

Appreciating life after loss

In this video, I discuss the importance of not forgetting about those around us, after we have experienced the loss of a loved one. There are times where in our grief, we are unable to see anything or anyone outside of that pain. While we are unable to change the past, we can amend our present and future.

 

Building a new norm after loss

During this discussion, my father I discussed the impact that the loss of his younger brother had on his life and how his life has changed. Often times we look to feel how we did prior to loss. However, life is continuously changing and with loss we learn how to build a new norm and how to continue living.
