Meet the Founder

My name is Lindsay Fernandez and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, passionate about Mental Health and changing how we as a society look at grief. I am also the author of "A Lifetime with Death,” a memoir that documents my childhood experiences of navigating life with my mom, who suffered from both physical and mental illness, and my personal grief experience after unexpectedly losing her in 2011.

Professionally, I have 8 years of experience providing 1:1 and group supportive counseling services to individuals experiencing grief, related to both death-related and non-death-related losses. My work focuses on guiding individuals:

  • to understand their grief and the areas of their life that have been impacted

  • in exploring and processing their loss/es and emotions associated

  • in exploring their interpersonal relationships and family history

  • in exploring factors relevant to the person that include but are not limited to culture & religion

  • in exploring access to a reliable support system

  • to develop tailored coping strategies to help them navigate overwhelming experiences and emotions

  • in exploring reintegrating themselves into their daily activities

  • understanding and familiarizing themselves with the unfamiliar and overwhelming emotions and experiences throughout their grief experience through grief education

Ultimately, when people learn how to tune into their grief, understand their needs, and cope with difficult experiences and emotions, they can release the shame, judgment, and expectations of their grief. With the coping tools, knowledge, and support system, individuals understand that life after loss is possible. Grieving for a lifetime doesn’t mean that we have to suffer for a lifetime.
