Secondary Losses

When we lose a loved one, we can experience losses related to our identity, belief system, financial security, and many more. With every milestone that we go through, we become increasingly aware of the absence of our loved ones. In these videos, I explore some of the common secondary losses that individuals may experience.

Secondary Losses: Beyond the physical

Loss isn’t only attributed to the physical. After losing a loved one, we experience and feel the void they left behind. This can be attributed to the loss of identity without this person, the loss of hope and hope for the future, loss of belief system, loss of financial security, and much more.

Loss of identity

When we lose our loved ones, we can also experience the loss of the person we once were. This can lead to us questioning about purpose and our roles in this world.

Something as real as death, can at times lead to the strengthening of your interpersonal relationships but it can also scare people and create distance in the relationship.
